EVA Mendes might have just turned 51-years-old, but she looks as young as she did when she first burst onto the scene in 1998.

The mum-of-two celebrated her birthday earlier this week, and marked the occasion with a glamorous campaign for English fashion label, Stella McCartney.

“My new campaign and my new age just dropped,” she penned on Instagram alongside the shots. “I’m 51 today and so grateful for all the reasons.

“Especially grateful to Stella McCartney for making the most beautiful, cruelty free clothing that I feel so great in.

“I’ve worked with amazing designers throughout my career but I’ve never felt sexier in any one else’s designs than hers.

“I hate that I can’t be there at your fashion show today but I have the best reason in the world - I’m with my family.”

Despite having an estimated net worth over £15 million and being married to Ryan Gosling, one of the most recognisable actors in the world, Eva has a surprisingly cheap beauty routine.

That being said, like most celebrities, she has tried the odd injection and treatment to pump some youthfulness back into her face.

“I’m not afraid to try things that are safe, because most of these little treatments, let’s say, are reversible,” she told The Times last year.

“If you get Botox, it goes away if you don’t like it.

"There have been times where I’ve regretted something…and then you just wait it out.”

No Wash Zone

Eva doesn’t wash her face in the morning - and no, it’s not gross.

During a Facebook Q&A, she revealed: “I save time by not washing my face in the morning.

“It's one less thing to do and I find that water is drying to my face.”

This tactic has been hailed as an anti-ageing hero by thousands of beauty influencers, so Eva might actually be onto something.

Overnight, your skin produces natural oil that is essential for maintaining the skin barrier, and can help keep it moisturised and supple.

By skipping your morning wash, you avoid stripping these beneficial oils, which can help prevent dryness and the fine lines associated with dehydrated skin.

Dry skin is more prone to fine lines and wrinkles, as it lacks the plumpness and elasticity of well-hydrated skin.

Eva also swears by coconut oil as an anti-ageing star - and you can pick up an organic pot for as cheap as £2 in your local .

“I'm on the coconut oil bandwagon,” she revealed in 2015. “It's my moisturiser for my hands, body, even my face - though for the day, I prefer .

“It's thick and wears well under make-up.”

Best Oils for Body Skincare

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is highly moisturising and rich in fatty acids (especially lauric acid), which help to nourish the skin and create a protective barrier. It has antimicrobial properties, making it beneficial for soothing irritation and minor skin conditions.

Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil closely resembles the skin’s natural sebum, so it’s excellent at balancing oil production. It absorbs quickly, moisturises without being greasy and won't clog your pores.

Almond oil

Almond oil - particularly the sweet kind - is rich in vitamins A, E, and omega-3 fatty acids. These help soothe, soften, and nourish the skin. It's lightweight, easily absorbed and has anti-inflammatory properties that are great for irritated or inflamed skin.

Rosehip oil

Rosehip seed oil is rich in vitamins A and C, which help to brighten the skin and promote collagen production. It’s known for its ability to reduce scars, stretch marks and fine lines while also hydrating the skin.

Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids (particularly lauric acid) which helps to lock in moisture and keep the skin hydrated, essential for plumping out fine lines and wrinkles.

It also contains antioxidants such as vitamin E, which help combat free radicals - the unstable molecules that damage skin cells and contribute to premature ageing.

Regular use of coconut oil may support the skin’s natural elasticity - and thus how youthful it appears - by keeping it hydrated and nourished

Shaving the ‘Beast’

Back in 2023, Eva revealed that she grows hair like “a beast” - including on her face.

So, she has it all shaved off to reveal a smoother complexion. This process is better known as dermaplaning.

It is a non-invasive exfoliation technique that involves using a sterile blade to gently scrape off dead skin cells and facial hair from the surface of the skin.

“I’m a beast so I probably need every other day! Ha. My hair grows back if I get chills,” Eva said on Instagram. “I’ll literally be shaving my legs in the shower and get chills and all my work is undone!”

Exfoliation from dermaplaning encourages the skin’s natural cell turnover process.

As we age, cell renewal slows down, leading to dullness and uneven texture. By promoting the shedding of dead skin cells, dermaplaning helps maintain a brighter, more youthful complexion.

From the Inside Out

When it comes to the nitty-gritty science of ageing backwards, Eva recognises the importance of nourishing her body from the inside out.

She previously revealed: “I drink a lot of water. I always keep a bottle with me and kind of force myself to drink.

“My skin just looks better when I'm hydrated.”

Dehydrated skin often loses its elasticity, making it more prone to sagging and the development of wrinkles. Drinking enough water helps maintain skin elasticity, which is essential for a firm and youthful appearance.

What’s more, dry skin is more prone to cracking, irritation, and the formation of fine lines.

Getting your H2O levels up helps maintain the skin’s moisture levels, preventing dryness and flakiness and keeping the skin soft and supple.
