Valentine’s Day 2018 alcohol deals – where to find the cheapest Champagne, Prosecco and Cava

IF you’re staying in for Valentine’s Day,  a bottle of fizz is sure to go down well with your significant other - and there's a way to impress your date without breaking the bank.

Retailers usually reduce the prices twice a year – at Christmas and around Valentine’s Day - so now’s the best time to stock up.

But with loads offers out there, it can easily get confusing.

The Sun Online looked at prices of Cava, Prosecco and Champagne (branded and non branded) using MySupermarket.com to find out who is selling the cheapest bubbly.

We also asked Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Asda M&S, Morrisons, Co-op as well as Lidl and Aldi to send us what they thought were their best deals.

Of course, our data doesn’t take into account the quality of the alcohol so that may be reflected in the price.

It's also worth noting that prices change rapidly in the run-up to February 14 - so the best offer today might change by tomorrow.

We will continue updating the article as we get closer to Valentine's Day.

Aldi and Lidl have gained popularity for selling quality fizz at a bargain price.

The award-winning champagne from Aldi, which is available in stores and online now, costs slightly more than a tenner.

It is blended from a complex and elegant mix of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes, before being carefully aged in cellars to create its unique and beautiful taste.

The bargain supermarket claims a chilled glass of this fizz is ideal to celebrate precious memories with a loved one.

For the same price, you can also pick up Lidl's Champagne AOP Brut Comte de Senneva.

Pour a glass and enjoy a sweet, floral nose and clean fruit taste.

It's worth noting, that if you're willing to spend a little more Marks and Spencer is running 20 per cent off discount several sparklings and a half price off Champagne.

So you could get , with creamy lemon shortbread aromas and smooth, lush caramelised hazelnut flavours, for £17 down from £34.

If you're looking for a more established brand, you can get a bottle of Lanson Black Label for £24 at Tesco or Waitrose down from £32.

Both retailers are running discounts on booze in the run-up to Valentine's Day.

It's worth noting that Tesco's offer is available until February 14 only, while Waitrose's deal will continue until the 20th.

The next cheapest bottle we found was at Sainsbury's for £30.

If you want to impress your date on Valentine's date, a posh bottle of Moët & Chandon should do the trick.

Created from more than 100 different wines, the Moët Imperial style is distinguished by a bright fruitiness with notes of green apple and white flowers

And you can now get it for a discount price at Sainsbury's, which is selling a 75cl bottle for £27 down from £35.

The retailer's offer will be available until February 14.

The leading champagne house of Veuve Clicquot sees constant popularity for its famous bubbly.

And you can now get a small discount at  Tesco, which is selling the tipple for £34 down from £39 right until Valentine's Day.

The luxurious champagne is also available at Morrisons and Asda for £39.

Taittinger is one of the few Champagne houses still owned and managed by the family whose name appears on the label.

Unfortunately, we haven't spotted any discount on the cult bottle just yet.

So the cheapest you can get comes from Asda and Morrisons with both retailers selling it for £35.

Bollinger is famous for its consistency of style, structure and aromatic complexity.

You can now get the posh bottle for a discounted £31.50, down from a heftier £42 from Waitrose.

In case you missed it higher up, the posh retailer is running up to 25 per cent discount on bubbly until February 20.

The next cheapest is sold at Tesco for a discounted £32 until Valentine's Day.

Often regarded as Champagne’s younger, cheaper cousin, Prosecco has gained in popularity over the last few years.

Recent figure from  revealed that the average price of a bottle has fallen by 23p to £6.76 this year boosted by falling prices from bargain retailers Lidl and Aldi.

And, according to our research, Aldi  has the cheapest fizz on offer, with its bottle of Prosecco Duca Del Poggio at just £4.99

The discounter claims its a perfect aperitif or a great match with seafood or lightly-sauced pasta dish.

Lovebirds can also  toast to romance on Valentine's Day with a bottle of .

Asda is selling bottles of the award-winning fizz for £5 down from £6 ahead of the celebration of love.

The Italian fizz scooped Silver at the 2017 Decanter Awards and Bronze at the prestigious International Wine Challenge.

So, if you're a fan it's a pretty decent deal considering it's just 1p cheaper than Lidl's.

The next best deal is on a which costs £5.25.

Cava is a lot more affordable than prosecco or champagne, and can sometimes be a delight, like these ones from budget stores Aldi and  Lidl that cost just £4.95.

It is followed closedly by the Montcadi Cava Brut from .

Last but not least, Waitrose is also instead of £9.49 until February 20.

How to get the best deal on your prosecco

BEFORE buying your fizz, make sure you’re getting the best deal possible with these tips.

  • Look for vouchers on money saving websites like  andwho list deals you can hand over to retailers.
  • Check sites like to check if you can get the same bottle cheaper in any other supermarket. You can also see when products were on offer to see if you’re getting the best deal.
  • Keep an eye out for discounts, offers and reduced prices.
  • Check online and in stores to see if the supermarket is offering a special deal if you shop at one or the other.
