Bodywork repairs can cause drivers headaches as they often force drivers into paying hefty bills.

But a new quick-fix solution has been suggested to remove rust spots.

Simply pouring a cold can or bottle of Coke over rust spots on your car can help to repair the damage.

And using Diet Coke, or a slightly flatter drink, makes it easier to clean rust.

advises people to use a sponge or folded aluminium foil to wipe the rust off the car.

Scrubbing your car with a sponge may be more gentle than aluminium foil, but it is less effective.

Drivers can use soap and water to remove debris.

The science also makes sense – CocaCola has a carbonate composition, which can dissolve the metal oxides in rust, whereas citric acid present in the drink removes stains.

It comes as a cleaning expert shared their top tip on removing chocolate stains from a car seat.

They revealed that wrapping ice in cloth and applying it to a stained surface, followed by brushing and wiping, is a cheap method for drivers who wish to tidy up their mess.

And drivers were advised that they should use rain repellent to de-fog car windows.

The spray can be used to stop condensation when the weather is cold.
