ANOTHER Russian region is reportedly under attack from anti-Putin troops after a blaze was seen ripping through a suspected military plant.

The inferno erupted at a facility in Bryansk just a day after Belgorod was stormed by freedom fighters.

Pictures showed smoke pouring from the building in Dyatkovo, a town only 118 miles from the border of Ukraine.

According to local media, the compound was used by a company called LLC NPP Alexander, a developer of optical parts and systems for space and military equipment.

The company is contracted out to the Kremlin's defence ministry, it was reported.

It is unclear if the Bryansk region attack was caused by a drone, a GRAD missile or sabotage.

The massive inferno comes as Russia faced humiliating incursions by anti-Putin volunteer groups in Belgorod on Monday.

Dramatic footage claimed to show tanks storming the border town as well as drones unleashing terror along the frontier.

Moscow officials have since voiced deep concern over the armed incursion, which has forced civilians to flee.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, Belgorod's governor, claimed civilians were evacuated from nine border villages in the region due to intense fighting.

Ukraine denied responsibility and said Russian citizens from two paramilitary groups were behind the incursion.

Mikhaylo Podolyak, a Ukrainian presidential advisor, suggested "guerrilla groups" could be responsible.

Podolyak said: "The only driving political force in a totalitarian country of tightened screws is always an armed guerrilla movement."

No deaths have been confirmed in the fighting but a number of people are believed to have been injured.

However, Russia's Defence Ministry countered those reports and today claimed they killed more than 70 "Ukrainian fighters" in Belgorod.

The Kremlin has also launched a terrorism investigation in the region.

Dmitry Peskov, Putin's press secretary, said: "What happened yesterday is a cause for deep concern and once again confirms that Ukrainian militants continue their activities against our country."

The pro-Ukraine saboteurs, who call themselves Freedom of Russia Legion, have since claimed responsibility for the Belgorod attack.

A former FSB spy is allegedly among the group invading Russia, Agentstvo reported.

In a video released by a Telegram channel claiming to represent the anti-Kremlin group, a camouflaged spokesman said: "Russia will be free.

"We want our children to grow up in peace and be free."

Another video allegedly showed a representative from the anti-Putin insurgents called "Caesar" who told viewers Belgorod residents had requested their troops to conduct peacekeeping in the region.

It comes as Britain's Ministry of Defence said Russia was facing an increasingly serious multi-domain security threat in its border regions.

In March, Putin accused Ukraine of launching a terror attack after members of the Legion crossed the border further north.

However footage showing it was a stunt by anti-Kremlin Russians waving flags for the camera.
