SHOCKING dashcam footage shows the moment a plane nosedived into a busy highway - leaving ten dead.

The private jet crashed into unsuspecting motorists in the town of Elmina, Malaysia, and sparked a huge fireball that swept across the road.

The private jet was just two minutes away from landing when it plummeted onto the highway shortly before 3pm local time (8am BST).

Eight people on board the plane, a driver in a car and a motorcyclist were killed.

Horror footage from a dashcam shows the plane hurtling towards the ground at high speed.

It then explodes on impact - sending a huge sea of flames sweeping across the motorway.

Another clip from a car travelling in a different direction shows the fireball tear across the road in front of them.

Bright orange flames and thick, black smoke fills the frame as the driver hurries to flee the blaze.

Heaps of charred debris were left strewn across the highway, with thick black soot covering the tarmac.

Onlookers said the aircraft - a Beechcraft Premiere twin-jet with the tail number N28jV - plummeted onto the road before veering onto the grass verge.

The aircraft was travelling from luxury holiday island Langkawi to Subang Airport, the country's civil aviation authority said.

Six passengers and two crew members were on board.

Selangor police chief Husein Omar Khan said the plane had not put out any emergency calls.

He added: "The aircraft had already been given clearance to land.

"We have the flight manifest but we cannot disclose any details at this point in time."

It is unclear why the plane crashed just before it was set to reach the runway.

Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) chief executive officer Norazman Mahmud added: "The first contact made by the aircraft with the Subang air traffic control tower was at 2:47pm. Landing clearance was given at 2.48pm.

"At 2.51pm, the control tower observed smoke coming from the crash site but no Mayday call was made by the aircraft."
