BRADLEY Lowery's family have announced details of the youngster's funeral - asking mourners to wear football tops of any colour to celebrate his life.

In a post on Facebook, the family confirmed the funeral will be held on Friday July 14 at St Joseph's R.C. Church in Blackhall Colliery, County Durham.

In the post, they said: "This is open to everyone who would like to come and celebrate Bradley's life and pay their respects to show him how much he was loved.

"Not everyone will fit in the church but they are having speakers for people to listen to the service outside and people can line the streets if they wish to do so.

"[The family] will then be having an invite-only private ceremony at a crematorium."

They added the funeral's theme is 'cancer has no colours' - meaning mourners are invited to wear football tops of any team.

People are also asked to donate to the Bradley Lowery Foundation instead of buying flowers.

Earlier today, touching tributes were seen outside Sunderland's Stadium of Light for brave fan Bradley Lowery who lost his battle with neuroblastoma on Friday.

Football shirts, flowers, balloons and cuddly toys have been placed around the stadium along with messages of remembrance and support for the youngster's family.

It comes as Jermain Defoe, who became "best friends" with football mascot Bradley, 6, shared his own heartbreaking tribute on Twitter yesterday.

He wrote: “I feel so blessed God brought you into my life.

“Goodbye my friend gonna miss you lots. I feel so blessed God brought you into my life and had some amazing moments with you and for that I’m so grateful.

“I’ll never ever forget the way you looked at me when I met you for the first time, the genuine love in those cute eyes.

“Really finding it hard to find words to express what you mean to me.

“The way you say my name, your little smiles when the cameras come out like a little superstar and the love I felt when I was with you.

“Your courage and bravery will continue to inspire me for the rest of my life.

“You will never know what a difference you made to me as a person.

“God has you in his arms and I will always carry you in my heart.

“Sleep tight little one. My best friend.”

Meanwhile today, fans at Hibs joined Sunderland supporters in a minute's applause for Bradley in the 6th minutes of Lewis Stevenson's testimonial match at Easter Road.

Bradley had beaten cancer once before, but after some time in remission it came back in July 2016.

His family desperately raised money for treatment in the US but doctors delivered the heart-breaking news that the little boy’s cancer had become terminal.

The youngster’s mum Gemma announced on Facebook that the youngster sadly lost his battle with cancer at 13:35 on Friday.
