ROSE perfumes are on trend as we step into February – the month of love.
Whether you are in the market for a new scent, or buying for a loved one, these are three of the best new launches . . .
Zara Fashionably London elixir EDP, £29.99 For 60ml,: Created by Jo Malone, and housed in a heavy glass bottle, this immediately feels glamorous, and far more luxurious than the price point might suggest.
A fresh, bright, citrusy rose at the beginning dries down to something a bit spicy, almost oud-like thanks to the red musk that modernises the floral rose scent.
This would make a great everyday fragrance, and lasts a really long time – I could still detect it days later on my clothes.
But if you want something unique, look elsewhere.
Elie Saab Elixir Love EDP, £70 for 60ml : Featuring cherry – the fruit of the moment – there’s something jammy and mouth-watering about this scent.
It feels more romantic and sexy than the other two, making it perfect for date night.
Oak moss and patchouli give it an earthy, green base that outlasts the heavy jasmine and rose, so it evolves throughout the day – and it lasts a good eight hours.
If you are a fan of Tom Ford Velvet Orchid or YSL Black Opium, you’re guaranteed to love it, as it feels like it’s from the same family.
Jo Malone London Taif Rose Cologne Intense, £112 for 50ml, jomalone.co.uk: If you’re usually not a fan of rose, try this.
The additions of amber and coffee make this rich and almost smoky, with a cosy and comforting creaminess that sits close to the skin like a hug.
The taif rose is much fresher than you would imagine due to the cooler temperatures of the mountains of Saudi Arabia, where it hails from.
This means it is a far cry from the loud, stuffy, old-fashioned rose scents you might associate with your nana.
YOU will love Boots’ limited-edition Valentine’s Day Beauty Box, £27, featuring £115.50-worth of goodies.
You’re saving a total of £88.50 on seven products spanning make-up, skincare and fragrance from brands such as Elemis, Nars and Pixi.
Three are full-sized – Iconic London Sheer Blush in Rose Riot (worth £21), Pixi vitamin-C tonic (worth £18) and NYX Butter Gloss lip gloss (worth £7.50). Shop now in store or at .
