  • Si Jiahui 3-6 Jak Jones (51-40)

A great half-century break from Si comes to an end but he doesn't leave Jones with a simple pot.

The Welshman forced to play safely and he does so, leaving the cue ball near the baulk cushion in the process. Good play.

  • Si Jiahui 3-6 Jak Jones (0-40)

A break of 40 comes to an end for Jak Jones after a missed red into the right corner pocket.

He's also left it over the pocket and slumps to the table in the process as an audible gasp echoes round the arena.

    A big moment, perhaps.

  • All focus

So it's just the one match to concentrate on tonight.

Si Jiahui was trailing Jak Jones by six frame to two after the earlier session.

But he won the opener in tonight's session and trails 6-3.

  • First quarterfinalist

We have our first quarter finalist of the 2024 World Championships.

And after a session of around just 18 minutes, David Gilbert has completed the job to see of Robert Milkins.

A resounding 13-4 win in the end after an emphatic display earlier this afternoon and he saw out the tie with class.

After dumping out the reigning champ Luca Brecel on night one, Gilbert is the first man into the last eight.

  • Tonight's action

The evening session tonight begins at 7pm.

Here is what is coming up:

    • Robert Milkins 4-12 David Gilbert (to finish, Gilbert one frame away)
    • Si Jiahui 2-6 Jak Jones (9th to 16th frames)
  • Stephen Maguire 5-3 Shaun Murphy

Murphy had a chance to pot the blue but it's a chance he doesn't take to hand Maguire the upper hand.

He takes a two frame advantage into tomorrow.

  • Stephen Maguire 4-3 Shaun Murphy

Maguire is back ahead with a brilliant 44 break.

Bits of luck did not fall kindly for Murphy and he sees his lead disappear.

  • Trump in control

A dominating performance from Trupp - but Ford's hopes are not all lost just yet.

He is behind 11-5, meaning Trump the former world champion needs just two more frames to book his place in the quarter-final.

But Ford did not go down without a fight, holding his own to lose the second session 5-3.

Trump leads 63-13 in the thirteenth frame.

    2-2 in today's grudge match.

It's been very tense so far.
