Pep Guardiola thought lines on Bristol City’s pitch were tactical… until club explained they were for rugby
Man City boss did his homework on Ashton Gate but didn't take into account that the stadium also hosts the oval ball game

Well, didn't we think Pep Guardiola is a genius?
Apparently not.
Especially judging from his reaction to the lines on the pitch at Ashton Gate.
Pep takes his Manchester City stars to Bristol City on Tuesday, January 23 for the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.
And he's obviously been brushing up on the place.
Like asking about all the lines on the pitch when he met the Robins' coaching staff after City's 2-1 first leg win this week.

"He even asked us about the lines on pitch and thought it was a tactical thing.
"We had to explain it was from the rugby club."
Since August 2014 Ashton Gate has also been the home of Bristol Rugby.
A revamp saw the stadium capacity increased to 27,000 and, in a major move, the Bristol 'umbrella' now includes basketball as well.
Pep shouldn't have been too surprised at the club's historic link with rugby: in 1908 Ashton Gate hosted a Home Nations Championship between England and Wales.
