Pep Guardiola to agree Manchester City contract extension until 2021 worth £19.5m-a-year
PEP GUARDIOLA is ready to agree a contract extension which could keep him at Manchester City until 2021.
The new deal — which has been hammered out over four months — will see his annual salary shoot up from £16million to almost £19.5m.
Guardiola’s contract was due to expire after next season and City’s top brass were told by owner Sheikh Mansour to secure an extension.
The former Barcelona boss, 47, has preferred to work under a fixed three-year deal — as he did at Bayern Munich — but is impressed by City’s commitment to his project.
He also wants his coaching and back-room staff to get the same deals and percentage increase in wages.
City will make an announcement after Pep wins his first trophy — which could happen in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Arsenal.

Guardiola recently showed his desire to stay in the North by investing in a new restaurant.
He has teamed up with club executives Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain to fund a new city-centre paella restaurant called Tast Cuina Catalana.

The venture is clearly a further sign that Guardiola is putting some roots down after he last year bought the apartment in which he has been living with his family since moving in summer 2016.
