All iPhone owners must turn on little-known ‘filtering’ trick that stops spam messages forever

IPHONE owners are just realising there's a way to filter out text messages from dubious senders.
Apple has two tools to help protect you from these annoying - and sometimes dangerous - communications.
The first is filtering and the other allows you to block individual numbers from texting you altogether.
But there are some important caveats.
Message filtering on the iPhone prevents unknown senders.
Rather than deleting their texts, they're put into a separate folder.

And you don't get notified when you receive one like a normal text.
However, it can filter out messages you want to receive, such as from your bank or a delivery company.
In which case, you'll have to go to check the Unknown Senders folder.
It's also important to point out that you canʼt open any links in a message from an unknown sender, until you add the sender to your contacts or reply to the message.

How to filter messages from unknown senders on iPhone
Go to Settings and find Messages.
Scroll down to Filter Unknown Senders and switch it on.
If you wish to look in the unknown senders folder after it's set up, go to the Messages app.
Tap on Filters in the top left.
Select Unknown Senders.
How to block spam messages on iPhone
You can block any individual number from messaging you on iPhone.
This is great if you've got a spammer that keeps reaching out to you on the same number but remember they will often try to use different numbers - which you will have to block again.
Go to the Messages app.
Open the message of the person you wish to block.

Tap their name or number at the top.
Select Info, then tap Block this Caller.
