STRICTLY Come Dancing fans noticed a big shake-up to the show's format tonight.

Instead, the camera stayed on the pairings as they ascended and were greeted by their cheering co-stars.

The move was welcomed by fans who thought the seconds long replays were unnecessary.

One wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "They've finally got rid of the annoying replay of the dance when the couple runs up to see Claudia! That used to really annoy me because we'd miss everyone's reactions.

"They definitely still had the replays last week so I'm not sure what changed in a week but I'm grateful to whoever decided that. Now change that bloody desk back."

Another said: "Oooh it’s gone back to original times and no replays after the dance!?"

There was more nostalgia tonight when former contestant Ed Balls returned to read out the voting information.

The 56-year-old ex Shadow Chancellor even performed moves from his iconic Salsa back in 2016 to PSY's Gangnam Style.

He was partnered with pro dancer Katya Jones for the BBC One show before being booted off in 2016.

Viewers flocked to social media following Ed's return to Strictly.

One said: "I don't think any dance can top the reminder of @edballs doing Gangnam style on #Strictly."

A second wrote: "Katya gagnam styling behind Ed Balls so funny."

"Oh Ed Balls, what a lovely surprise," said a third.

While a fourth commented: "Ed Balls ICON!"
