STRICTLY Come Dancing fans think the judges are overscoring one contestant in particular to keep them on the show.

Some fans reckon Angela Rippon's time in the spotlight is being prolonged until at least the Blackpool stage of the contest.

At 79-years-old, Angela is the oldest ever contestant to compete in the BBC primetime dancing show.

But the legendary TV presenter has a long history with the institution of UK dance.

She was the host of Come Dancing from 1988 until 1991 and then again in 1998.

The BBC star is also patron of the Old Time Dance Society and was appointed as Chair of English National Ballet in 2000, before resigning in 2003.

Because of her long history, some fans thinks that the judges which include, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and head judge Shirley Ballas are intentionally lenient when it comes to her scoring.

Viewers have expressed their views on social media that her stay in the competition maybe intentionally prolonged to keep her on Strictly Come Dancing to at least Blackpool week for symbolic reasons.

One fan claimed: "Angela R is a BBC institution so the show seems to feel obliged to overpraise her. She has dance and flexibility abilities but is over marked. Wonder if it’s just to get her and Kai to Blackpool/might change after that?"

Another noted: "Nah they absolutely overscore Angela R. #strictly it’s so bloody patronising! She is good for her age, but not 9 good!"

"Angela R is an absolute legend but that wasn’t a proper Charleston this week it was slow and a walk not a dance," exclaimed a third.

As a fourth exclaimed: "#Strictly Angela R gets away with a lot from the Judges compared to other couples and more people are noticing it."

And fifth fan added: "Caught up with #strictly."

They continued: "Angela R overmarked."

The long-time TV host has wowed with her routines alongside pro partner Kai Widdrington, which included a jaw-dropping standing split during her debut performance.

But other fans of the celebrity ballroom programme believe that TV favourite Angela Rippon has been gifted easier dances by producers.

Many flocked to social media to share their theory, with one stating: "They are deffo giving Angela R the best dances for her ability…give her a jive or Charleston and make it fair."

"How come Angela R is getting all the dances like Rumba, Argentine Tango where she can do her leg stretches and get high scores? She’s very lucky with the dance order. She would hate the faster ones like Samba and Salsa," said a second.

This comes as Zara McDermott, 26, became the fifth celebrity to leave the competition after she and her partner Graziano Di Prima landed in the dance off.

The pair had to face off against opposite Adam Thomas and his pro Luba Mushtuk, but all four judges were unanimous in their decision to send the former Love Island star packing.
