LOVE Island star Chris Taylor has no idea that the film he was in has picked up eight Oscar nominations.
The tattooed funnyman, 33, landed a surprise and very brief role in the hit movie Barbie and it’s now set to win big at the world’s most famous award show.
But like islanders before him, Chris won’t be told anything about it while taking part in All Stars.
A source said: “Islanders don’t get news from the outside world unless a close relative falls ill or dies. So he’ll have to wait and find out when he leaves the villa.
“In the past, islanders have begged to know football scores or the results of England games but production staff and bombshells are banned from telling them.”
In 2020, the islanders weren’t even told about Covid, despite the country preparing to go into lock down.
The Barbie’s Oscar nominations have sparked debate after director Greta Gerwig and star Margot Robbie were snubbed in two major categories.
However, Barbie's director Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, who played the Mattel doll in the blockbuster hit, were overlooked in the director and best actress categories, respectively.
Greta was snubbed of a nod for best director, but was named alongside her husband Noah Baumbach for best adapted screenplay while Margot lost out on a best actress nomination but was recognised for best picture as a producer.
Ryan Gosling was however nominated for his supporting role as Ken in the box office juggernaut.
Chris previously told The Sun how he ended up doing the film, revealing it was all down to Love Island super fan Margot.
He says: “I don’t know if this is true, but it’s all I can assume. I met Margot Robbie at an afterparty.
"Margot recognised us from Love Island – I was with Jordan and Mac and she came over to us, chatting and talking about Love Island.”
He ended up at an afterparty with her and continued to get on like a house on fire.
About 18 months later, Chris was asked by Warner Bros to come and audition for Barbie – and initially thought it was a prank.
He continued to think it was a joke even when he was being driven to the studio, but he said: “We get there and Ryan Gosling just walked past my car with bright blonde hair and I was like holy s**t, this is actually real.”
Chris ended up shooting for around three hours and appears in the movie for just thirty seconds or so – but does have a speaking part.
