David Jason to return as Only Fools and Horses’ Del Boy for one-off special that promises to ‘surprise’ viewers

DAVID Jason has reprised his iconic Only Fools and Horses character for a one-off special that promises to ‘surprise’ viewers.
The 84-year-old filmed as Del Boy for a new series of car restoration show Car S.O.S.
Host Tim Shaw, 49, said it was "absolutely surreal" to see Sir David bring his former character to life again.
He told the : “David was a special guest on an episode and I managed to persuade him to do Del Boy again. It’s a sketch that I think will surprise people.
"It was one of the highlights of my life. It’s something I never thought would happen. When was the last time we saw David playing Del Boy? I can’t remember. So it was absolutely surreal."
The sketch airing next month involves Del Boy getting involved with the restoration of a Datsun 240k Skyline.
Fans of Only Fools and Horses were delighted to see Sir David dressed in character earlier this month at the annual two-day Only Fools and Horses Appreciation Society convention in Milton Keynes.
The star has opened up to The Sun's TV Mag about whether the show could make a comeback.
He said: "Well, to be honest with you, we would like that to happen very much because not only did we enjoy it so much, but so did most of the British public. Because of that, we would love to do it."
Only Fools and Horses ran for seven series on BBC One from 1981 to 1991.
There were 16 Christmas specials aired before the show officially ended in 2003.
Car S.O.S returns to National Geographic every Thursday at 8pm from March 7. David Jason appears in episode two airing on March 14.
