MARRIED At First Sight UK star Jay Howard has opened up about her split from Luke Worley and revealed the real reason their romance came to an end.
Jay and Luke, both 31, tied the knot on MAFS UK during the most recent series.
While the couple appeared to be getting off to a great start, they were axed from the process after Luke punched fellow groom Jordan Gayle during a fierce bust-up.
They split shortly after leaving the E4 show - despite Jay putting in effort to save their relationship.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun, she said: "I agree with us leaving at the time that we did because the altercation between Luke and Jordan shouldn’t have happened.
"At the time I would have liked to have completed the experience with Luke but on reflection I’m grateful that I didn’t because it showed me that not every relationship is meant to last and that me and Luke weren’t right for each other."
After leaving the show Jay and Luke went on holiday but she says things between them quickly changed when they returned to their respective hometowns.
Jay continued: "When we left the experiment we went on holiday, everything was good and we were really strong but then things changed when we came home.
"He went back to Essex and I came back to Accrington. I felt like he changed and he couldn’t be bothered to put in the effort."
Despite Luke's actions getting them axed, he and Jay were invited back for the first reunion which aired in November.
At the time Luke insisted he was "done" with the relationship and wouldn't "change" for Jay.
Jay added: "When he said what he said [at the first reunion], that just confirmed it for me that he wasn’t bothered about us.
"There were times in the beginning that I did think he was in it more for fame than love but I do think he was on the show for genuine reasons."
Sadly the former couple now have no contact with each other, and Jay said: "Luke would argue and say that he did put in a lot of effort but that just proves to me that we weren’t right for each other.
"We don’t speak anymore, the last time that we spoke was Christmas - just wishing each other Merry Christmas - but nothing since then."
Jay didn't leave the process completely empty handed though after landing some exciting opportunities and insisted that fans will soon see her on TV again, but remained tight-lipped on the details.
She even teased an appearance on the Celebrity Big Brother reboot set to kick off on Monday, saying: "Who knows? I would love to do the show."
