Coronation Street fans left stunned by shock new age-gap romance after surprise night of passion

CORONATION Street fans have been left gobsmacked by a shocking age-gap romance.
The surprise love story came out of nowhere with two unlikely Weatherfield residents having enjoyed a night of passion with one another.
Viewers of the ITV soap opera were left open-mouthed as the show opened to reveal that Leanne Battersby had spent the night with hunky Ryan Connor.
The romance blindsided viewers with a loved-up connection between the two never having been hinted at before.
Leanne has been on a downward spiral in recent weeks after taking revenge on her ex-fiancé Nick and her sister Toyah after they formed a secret romance behind Leanne's back.
On Wednesday, Corrie viewers saw Leanne get increasingly drunk as well as her attempts to make a pass at Ronnie Bailey.
But it wasn't Ronnie that ended up in bed with Leanne.
Instead, viewers saw that she had romped with a much younger toyboy.
Ryan is aged 32 whereas Leanne is believed to be over 47 years old.
But it seemed that age was just a number for the pair as they found themselves cuddled up to one another with Leanne later bragging to Tracy about getting down and dirty with the Rovers barman.
A shirtless Ryan said to Leanne: "Morning, do you know what's the best cure for a hangover?"
Leanne then quipped back: "To not get battered in the first place."
Reacting in shock at the new cobbles couple, one fan said: "Hold up Ryan slept with WHO."
A second said: "Ryan and Leanne? Whatttt."
Another penned: "Nah Ryan slept with Leanne??? And we don't even get a Carla reaction!?"
Before a fourth wrote: "Ryan and Leanne????? I'm... not hating it? The potential!"
Whilst someone else joked about the 'real reason' sofa-surfer Ryan decided to bed Leanne for the night, writing: "One good thing about Ryan sleeping with Leanne is at least he got a bed for the night not a couch."
ITV bosses are locked in a battle to save the cash-strapped soap.
This means that a number of stars have either been axed from or have abandoned the long-running serial drama.
Colson Smith - Craig Tinker
The character of Craig Tinker has been axed by bosses after 14 years. After he was told of the news in Autumn 2024, Colson Smith confirmed that would be written out of the show with scenes to air later this year. Craig's on-screen mum, Beth Tinker, also left the show in the summer when actress Lisa George was written out from the role.
Sue Cleaver - Eileen Grimshaw
After 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw, former I'm A Celebrity campmate Sue Cleaver will quit the show. The Sun on Sunday reported in January that she's already begun to film her exit scenes. However the character will not be killed off in case Sue opts to make a return in the future.
Luca Toolan - Mason Radcliffe
Bosses decided to axe the teenage character after just 16 months after he first joined the show. Recent scenes saw Mason stabbed by his criminal brothers after his pal Dylan brought a knife in an attempt to defend him.
Sue Devaney - Debbie Webster
In November 2024, we revealed that Debbie Webster is set to be killed off after 40 years on the cobbles. The character will die as part of a heartbreaking long-running dementia storyline.
Charlotte Jordan - Daisy Midgeley
The actress became the fifth star to leave Coronation Street in just one month. We revealed that she will bow out of the ITV soap later this year after four years on-screen. Charlotte told sources that she's hungry to see what other opportunities await.
Shelley King - Yasmeen Metcalfe
The actress has played Yasmeen Metcalfe on the cobbles for the past 11 years and we revealed in January that she finished filming her final scenes. This follows the departure of her on-screen partner Stu Carpenter.
Ryan then offered to stick around and make Leanne some breakfast for the morning but she was left spooked when she realised she had overslept and was at risk of missing her court appointment.
Leanne was due to find out if she was heading to prison after committing fraud during her revenge ploy.
Thankfully, she was let off with just a community order but she was still enraged with Toyah and Nick as she blamed them and their actions for being the reason why she'd been forced to go after them.
