GAME of Thrones bosses told Alfie Allen his character would be killed off by Bran Stark in a prank that backfired.
The actor played Theon Greyjoy in the hit HBO series, which came to an end after eight seasons earlier this year.
Actor Isaac Hempstead Wright, who played Bran, told an audience at London's BFI Southbank event that writers and show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were renowned for sending prank scripts to the cast during the show's run.
And at one point, they told Alfie, 33, he was going to be killed by Bran.
But their prank backfired as Alfie didn't react to the shocking news as they expected him to, saying he thought the idea was "cool".
The final season ended with Bran being made King of the Six Kingdoms in a move that surprised fans.
Isaac admitted he was equally shocked, and didn't initially believe the script considering the show bosses love of a red herring script.
He explained: "I was convinced that they’d sent everyone a script where [their character] became king or they became queen… so I didn’t get too excited too early on."
Once the revelation was confirmed, Isaac was delighted with the plan as for him, it rounded off one of the best story arcs in the whole show.
He said: "I would obviously say this, but I think that Bran had the best character arc.

"In the very first episode you think he’s toast – he’s dead.
"He grows and learns the hard way about a lot of things. He goes from being this traditionally vulnerable character to the most powerful person there is.
“I was pretty happy with just him becoming the Three-Eyed Raven, but what a great story where this boy, this disabled 10-year-old in the harshest world ever, [comes] to triumph.”
