The much-loved comedy duo have presented the BBC programme since it first aired in 2010.

But fans are NOT happy and are even threatening to stop watching the show altogether.

Viewers have taken to Twitter to voice their concerns with one fan tweeting: "If Mel and Sue leave bake off I will actually cry.”

Another said: "Bake off isn't bake off without Mel and Sue I quit as well"

This one tweeted: "My heart is broken"

One viewer said: "Great British bake off without Mel and Sue?? More like great British fake off"

And this one threatened to quit the show: "Bake off without Mel and Sue, um no thanks"

A joint statement from the pair said: "We were very shocked and saddened to learn yesterday evening that Bake Off will be moving from its home. We made no secret of our desire for the show to remain where it was.

"The BBC nurtured the show from its infancy and helped give it its distinctive warmth and charm, growing it from an audience of two million to nearly 15 at its peak."

They added: "We've had the most amazing time on Bake Off, and have loved seeing it rise and rise like a pair of yeasted Latvian baps.

"We're not going with the dough. We wish all the future bakers every success."

It's believed that judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood's positions are also in doubt and they may follow in Sue and Mel's footsteps.

The baking show's move from its home at the BBC to Channel 4 comes after the BBC refused to pay £25 million a year as part of a new deal to keep the hit baking programme.

Makers Love Productions reportedly rejected other bids from ITV and Netflix.
