Angela Thorne dead: Legendary actress who starred in To The Manor Born dies aged 84
LEGENDARY sitcom actress Angela Thorne has died aged 84, her family has revealed.
Angela was best known for starring in the BBC's To The Manor Born, when she played the best friend Marjory Frobisher from 1979 until 2007.
In 1967, Angela married her husband Peter Penry-Jones, who was a successful TV star from Cardiff.
The pair had two sons together, Rupert and Laurence.
They acted alongside each other in a number of To The Manor Born episodes before Peter sadly passed away after a long battle with bowel cancer in 2009.
Angela played one of the sitcom’s favourite characters – Audrey's best friend Marjory.

The character was good-natured, easy going and generally supportive of Audrey.
In 2010, Angela appeared in an episode of the BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? alongside her son Rupert.
They found out her dad William served with the Indian Medical Corps at the Battle of Monte Cassino.
And his preceding ancestors had a long-standing connection with the Indian Army.

In the late 80s she emerged as a voice artist working on The BFG, the film adaptation of Roald Dahl's book.
Angela reprised her role as Marjory for both a 10-episode radio series in 1997 and the one-off 2007 Christmas Special on television.
She followed this with a lead role in another sitcom, Three Up, Two Down, a series that followed an odd twosome who are reluctantly living together.
She then continued to appear in dramas like Midsomer Murders and Foyle's War.
