Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd declares she’s ‘beyond proud’ as late star is awarded with her first Grammy

CARRIE Fisher has been posthumously awarded with her first Grammy Award in recognition of her book, The Princess Diarist.

The late star, who passed away in December 2016 following a heart attack, released the book shortly before her death.

At this year’s Grammys, she was recognised for the audiobook of the release, which was based around the diary she kept while filming Star Wars for the first time.

She was awarded the Spoken Word award for the release.

Billie Lourd, Carrie’s daughter, announced the win on her Instagram, and in a touching post connected to a photograph of the pair together while Billie was still a child, she praised her mum’s last official works.

She wrote: “Princess Diarist was the last profesh(ish) thing my momby and I got to do together.

“I wish she was here to carry me down the red carpet in some bizarre floral ensemble but instead we’ll celebrate in true Carrie style: in bed in front of the TV over cold Coca Colas and warm e cigs.

“I’m beyond proud,” she added.

Although he’s bagged 21 Grammys in the past, he’s never won in a major category.

There will be some notable absences tonight however, with Ed Sheeran snubbing the ceremony after being missed off the shortlist for the big gongs.

Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift will also miss the star studded night for the same reason.
