NORWAY is hoping Alexander Rybak will lead them to victory for a second time in Eurovision.
But who is the talented performer and what is he performing for the 2018 final? Here's the lowdown.
Who is Alexander Rybak?
Alexander Rybak is a 31 year old singer-composer, violinist, pianist and actor.
He became known in Europe when he represented Norway at Eurovision back in 2009, winning the competition.
He broke all previous records with his score of 387 points and sang Fairytale.
The track topped the Eurovision charts once he won, and his album Fairytales was released in 25 countries.
How was Alexander Rybak chosen to represent Norway?
Norway’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest was held at Oslo Spektrum and organised by broadcaster NRK.
The venue was also used to host the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest.
Kåre Magnus Bergh and Silya Nymoen hosted the show, which was called Melodi Grand Prix.
50 international experts were involved in the selection, and there were four finalists including Alexander:

Alexander Rybak is performing That’s How You Write a Song at Eurovision 2018.
It was written by Alexander himself and was released as a digital download on January 15 2018.
It received 71% of the vote in the Gold Duel, part of the national selection contest for Eurovision in Norway.
The song is performed in English and will compete in the second semi final of Eurovision on May 10 2018.

When did Norway join Eurovision and have they ever won?
Norway first joined the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960, and has finished last more times than any other country.
However, when Jahn Teigen scored zero in 1978, this turned him into a star.
Norway has won the contest three times - most recently in 2009, when Rybak won by a landslide.
In 2017, JOWST represented Norway with the song Grab the Moment, and finished 10th place in the Grand Final in Kyiv.
When is Eurovision 2018 and where is it taking place?
The 63rd Eurovision Song Contest started on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, and ends with the Grand Final TONIGHT (Saturday, May 12).
For the first time, it will take place in Portugal at the Altice Arena in Lisbon.
Portugal achieved its first Eurovision victory at the 2017 contest in Kiev with their song Amar Pelos Dois, which was performed by Salvador Sobral.
