JADA Pinkett's relationship with Will Smith has been in the headlines for years following her alleged affair and open marriage status.
In October 2021, she went as far as opening up about their sex life on her Facebook show, Red Table Talk.
Jada, 50, has been married to Will, 53, for 24 years.
The two met in 1994 on the set of Will's television show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, while Jada was auditioning for the role of his character's girlfriend, Lisa Wilkes.
After dating for a few years, they got married in 1997 while Jada was three months pregnant with their son Jaden Smith.
In 2000, she then gave birth to her daughter, Willow Smith.
She is also the stepmother of Will’s first son, Trey, which he had in a previous marriage.
In 2003, rumors sparked that Jada and Will had an open marriage.
She stated in an interview: "I've always told Will, 'You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay.'
Because at the end of the day, Will is his own man. I'm here as his partner, but he is his own man."
Will later confirmed their marriage status in September 2021, saying that they both felt "miserable" in a monogamous relationship.
"Jada never believed in conventional marriage," Will told GQ magazine.
"Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship. So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up. There were significant endless discussions about, what is relational perfection? What is the perfect way to interact as a couple? And for the large part of our relationship, monogamy was what we chose, not thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection."
The news came one year after Jada admitted to having an affair with
musician August Alsina, who was 25 at the time.
In October 2021, Jada was seen opening up on her Red Table Talk show to guest Gwyneth Paltrow about her sex life with the actor.
"It's hard," Jada admitted. "The thing Will and I talk about a lot is the journey. We started in this at a very young age, you know, 22 years old. That's why the accountability part really hit for me because I think you expect your partner to know [what you need], especially when it comes to sex. It's like, 'Well, if you love me, you should know. If you love me, you should read my mind.' That's a huge pitfall."
Gwyneth then added, "Isn't it weird, though? It's like someone doesn't read your mind and we feel crushed," to which Jada responded, "You tell me what you need. Tell me what you want, and on top of it, I know that I have to be accountable to do the same...I really try.
"It's uncomfortable, but it's deeply healthy, and I think around sex, because it's something that we don't talk about and there's so much fantasy around it."
August Alsina, 29, is known as an American singer, rapper, and songwriter from New Orleans.
He has been friends with Jaden since 2015, and reportedly met Jada through him.
In an interview with The Breakfast Club, August addressed the rumors that he was once involved with Jada.
He claimed that Will gave him permission to hook up with Jada after his marriage to her "transformed" into what he described as a non-romantic "life partnership."
“I actually sat down with Will [Smith] and had a conversation,” Alsina said.
"He gave me his blessing,” the rapper added.
Reports of a potential romance between August and Jada came to light after one of his music videos featured the name Koren - which happens to be Jada's middle name.
The rapper claims he has been with Jada for “years” during her marriage to Will.
"I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really, deeply loved and have a ton of love for her,” he said.
He also mentions that the decline of the affair between him and Jada affected him greatly.
“It almost killed me. Not almost. It did - it pushed me into being another person,” August said.
In a statement to Page Six, a representative for Jada denied the rumor, saying it was "absolutely not true."
In 2005, Will told The Daily Mail that he and Jada spoke openly about being sexually attracted to other people and made claims that ignited speculation.
"If it came down to it, then one can say to the other, 'Look, I need to have sex with somebody," he said.
"I'm not going to if you don't approve of it - but please approve of it'," Will added.
However, Will has yet to address the statements made by August.
