THE junkie ex-husband of AMY WINEHOUSE was last night branded a “disgusting”
scrounger — by his MUM.
Skint BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL was slammed by mother Georgette for claiming
state handouts to feed his drug addiction.
Jobless ex-jailbird Blake, 28, is raking in up to £800 a month in benefits
while doing heroin with his pregnant addict girlfriend.
And his mum said: “He disgusts me — why shouldn’t he go out to work? I’ve
given up on him now.”
Georgette spoke out after The Sun told how 21,000 heroin addicts have been
living on benefits in Britain for the past ten years, costing taxpayers a
massive £1billion.
She said: “It’s appalling that all our tax is going on people like Blake.
What the Government is doing is giving them money to feed their addiction,
that’s all he’s doing with the money.
“He got a doctor’s certificate to say he can’t work because of his addiction
so he can get £91 a week disability allowance, plus housing benefit and
income support.
“In the winter he was getting £25 a week in cold weather payments. He was
getting more than me and I’m a taxpayer.”
Georgette, 46, took Blake in when he was given bail after being charged with
burglary and possessing a fake firearm.
But she kicked him out after realising he and girlfriend Sarah Aspin, who he
met in rehab, had been sucked back into heroin addiction.
She said: “He came to me and it was an opportunity to turn his life around yet
again.
“But as long as he is with another addict there is no hope. The final straw
was them doing drugs while she is carrying an innocent baby – they just
don’t seem to care.”
Georgette said singer Amy, who was married to Blake for two years, had
previously begged her to keep him away from Sarah.
She said: “Amy said Sarah was ‘fit to burn’ and pleaded with me to get rid
of her. She said while Blake was with her he would never get off drugs. And
she’s absolutely right.”
Georgette said of 31-year-old Sarah, who is due to give birth at the end of
this month: “I don’t believe Blake is in love with her — she’s his drug
companion.”
She added Amy, who beat drugs herself, had told her she still loved Blake but
would have nothing to do with him unless he got clean.
The mum provided The Sun with her own treasured photos of the couple
printed above — creased down the middle from being carried folded in her
purse at all times.
She went on: “I look at Amy now and think how amazing she looks — really
beautiful. Why can’t Blake do that with his life? He got very upset about
Amy saying he wished she would walk through the door but I’d rather she kept
away from him because she has done well.”
Blake, whose marriage to Grammy-award winning Amy ended in 2009, spent six
months in a Sheffield clinic after doing two years in jail for assault and
conspiracy.
Georgette made weekly five-hour round trips to visit Blake in prison and
continued to see him as often as she was allowed to in rehab.
But the strain took its toll and husband Giles, Blake’s stepdad, walked out
of their home in Claypole, Lincs, after 26 years together.
Since then Georgette has had to close her hair salon and is suffering from the
hair-loss condition alopecia and stress-related stomach pains.
But she refuses to claim benefits herself, instead living on an allowance from
Giles.
She said: “I’ve lost everything to Blake. I lost my business because I was
frightened to go to work when he and Sarah lived here.
“I fought for him and he has humiliated me. Everything we’ve ever tried to do
for him, he has thrown it back in our faces. But the door is finally closed
now.”
