Paul Gambaccini ‘no further action’ over Yewtree arrest

BBC DJ Paul Gambaccini will face no further action after being arrested over
allegations he sexually abused two teenage boys in the 1980s.

The presenter, 65, was quizzed over the alleged offences after being held last
October at an address in South London. He has always denied the claims.

A second man, 75, was also arrested. He will also face no further action, the
Crown Prosection Service revealed.

They said there was “insufficient evidence to prosecute”.

Mr Gambaccini and the older man were the 15th and 16th people arrested as part
of the national Operation Yewtree inquiry sparked by abuse allegations
against Jimmy Savile.

Three have been convicted – Rolf Harris, Max Clifford and DJ Dave Lee Travis.

Former pop star Gary Glitter and ex-radio DJ Chris Denning are due to face
trial.

Driver David Smith was charged but died before court proceedings could take
place, and another man, aged 73, remains on bail.
