THE new love of snooker legend Stephen Hendry had a secret boyfriend who
discovered the affair after pals read about it in The Sun on Sunday.
Lauren Thundow then told devastated Matthew Gathercole she was leaving him.
Friends of Matthew, 27, said he was “completely in the dark” and was “hit for
six” by
our revelations about Lauren and Hendry last month.
One pal said: “Matt got calls and texts asking if he had seen The Sun on
Sunday.
He woke up to the news that his girlfriend had done the dirty on him with a
rich sports star. And it had been going on for months.
Lauren told him it was over and she wanted to be with Hendry.”
Matt, just back from a trip to Las Vegas, said: “I’d like to see what Stephen
Hendry would say to me.”
It is believed seven-times world champion Hendry, 46, grew close to Noddy
children’s show performer Lauren, 26, last July.
He finally told his wife of 19 years and mother of his two sons, Mandy, in
February.
Mandy, 46, said she was heartbroken Hendry left their home in Scotland, and
moved to Surrey to be nearer to Lauren.
