TAYLOR Swift has a stormy relationship with a Jake Gyllenhaal-lookalike in her
new video – about an acrimonious break up.
The singer dated the Source Code star for four months but they split in early
January 2011.
Now the new promo has fuelled rumours that the new hit, We Are Never Ever
Getting Back Together, is about her heartbreak over the split.
The 22-year-old is seen arguing with the dark, brooding hunk, who bears a
striking resemblance to her actor ex.
The lyrics of the break-up song could well point to the brief but passionate
romance, which fiercely private Jake tried to keep under wraps.
She sings: “We hadn’t seen each other in a month when you said you needed
space. What?”
In another line she sings: “And you will hide away and find your peace of mind
with some indie record that’s much cooler than mine.”
Sources close to the star – who has also dated Joe Jonas, John Mayer and
has now been linked to Conor Kennedy – said she was heartbroken by their
split, which happened just after Christmas.
In an interview earlier this year she hinted that she had no interest in
dating because she had been badly hurt.
She said: “I got nothing going on! I just don’t really feel like dating.
“I really have this great life right now and I’m not sad and I’m not crying
this Christmas, so I am really stoked about that.
She added: “I am not gonna go into it! It’s a sad story!”
But every cloud has a silver lining – and the resulting song has landed Taylor
at the top of the US charts for two weeks, with more than a million
downloads.
The video was debuted in Times Square at the weekend.
Taylor tweeted: “Fun facts about the We Are Never music video: it’s all in one
take, shot with one camera, 5 costume changes, and woodland creatures.”
Plus a poke in the eye for Jake Gyllenhaal?
