KATE Middleton is reportedly "mortified" by claims she made Meghan Markle cry during the wedding feud because she's "very careful with how she treats others", royal expert claims.

In the explosive Oprah Winfrey interview earlier this month, Meghan shut down rumours that she made Kate, 38, cry over an incident concerning bridesmaids' dresses and insisted it was the Duchess of Cambridge who upset her.

The incident happened two years ago when it was believed Meghan "left Kate Middleton in tears," but it re-emerged during the tell-all chat.

Meghan revealed: "She (Kate) was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologised. And she brought me flowers."

She also said: "There wasn't a confrontation and I don't think it's fair to her to get into the details of that because she apologised, and I have forgiven her.

"What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn't do, but that happened to me."

But royal expert Kate Nicholl has revealed how you "never hear" about the Duchess of Cambridge falling out with anyone because she is "very careful with how she treats others."

Speaking to , she explained: "Kate has never wanted any suggestion of a rift with Meghan to come out in the press, so for this story to be circulating is very hard."

The royal expert added there are "different versions" of the story and claimed that Meghan and Prince Harry know Kate is "not in a position to respond".

She told the publication: "From what I hear, there are different versions of the bridesmaid story, not just the one Meghan discussed.

"Kate felt it was all sorted, so to have it brought up again was mortifying. Kate is not in a position to respond and Meghan and Harry know that."

Kate also said that the interview with Oprah has left Kate "saddened, disappointed and hurt" and it's been a "very hard" few days for her.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out for the first time on Thursday since the explosive chat, to visit a school in east London.

Despite the tough time the Duchess has had, the royal expert said "she turned up and committed to her work and duty last week."

However, she noted that "people did notice that she appeared downcast and subdued".

She added: "Behind closed doors she has been saddened, disappointed and hurt."

She continued to say that both Prince William and Kate "feel let down" after they were "hugely welcoming" to the Sussex's.

But they "still love Harry and Meghan" despite the fact "this interview has ruffled feathers."

During the outing on Thursday, , insisting: "We're very much not a racist family".

The Duke of Cambridge is the first royal to personally respond the allegation since the Oprah interview aired last week.

He also revealed he has not yet spoken to his brother Harry, but added that he "will do".

In November 2018, it was reported “Meghan left Kate in tears” over her demands for Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaids dress during a “stressful” fitting.

It was then subsequently claimed that the “rift” began when Kate said the bridesmaids should follow royal protocol by wearing tights which Meghan disagreed with.

But last weekend, a source claimed to the  that the Duchesses fell out after Princess Charlotte‘s bridesmaid dress didn’t fit – which meant they had to schedule more fittings ahead of the big day.

During the interview with Oprah, Meghan said that Kate was a "good person".

But she said she had struggled after reports of the incident surfaced several months after the wedding - saying it had been a "turning point".

The Duchess of Sussex told Oprah Winfrey that “nothing is what it looks like” as she made a string of explosive allegations about her life in the Royal family.

The sisters-in-law attended the Wimbledon women's final in July 2019, and were famously pictured laughing together in the royal box during Serena Williams' showdown with Simona Halep

Referencing the Wimbledon trip, Oprah asked: “Was it what it looks like? You are two sisters-in-law out there in the world, getting to know each other.

“Was she helping you, embracing you into the family, helping you adjust?"

Appearing to dodge the question, Meghan replied: “My understanding and my experience for the past four years is that it’s nothing like what it looks like.”
