MUM-OF-22 Sue Radford has opened up about how a health visitor previously told her to put her ‘chubby’ baby on a ‘diet’.
At the time, Sue and Noel Radford’s daughter, Sophie, was just 10 months old.
In Sue and Noel Radford’s book, The Radfords: Making Life Count, which is a number one best-seller on Amazon, the couple discussed their daughter Sophie.
But not only this, in the book, which took the second spot on the Sunday Times bestseller list, we saw the parents chat about a hospital dash with Sophie, and another incident, when Sophie was just a young child, when she accidentally drank Sue’s wine.
Sue explained: “Luckily, like Chris, Sophie was an easy baby.
"She was quite a chubby baby and I remember the health visitor coming out to me when she was about 10 months old and she'd just started crawling - and because she was quite chubby, the health visitor said, 'Oh, you need to put her on a diet.'
“And I said, ‘I'm not putting her on a diet. There's no way. She'll lose weight when she starts walking.'
“Looking back now, you just think, 'What an absolutely ridiculous thing to say!'
“But yes, she loved her baby food - and Farley's Rusks!”
Noel then chimed in: “She also had a tendency to put snails in her mouth - she'd have one in each cheek!
“She'd suck on them before you had the chance to take them out of her mouth. Oh, it was horrible - all that slime!”
But not only was Sophie a big eater, she was a bit of a trickster too.
Noel recalled a hospital dash when Sophie was little, as he explained: “I also remember the time we went to tuck her in one night and she was blue. She'd helped herself to some Miracle-Gro plant food and covered herself in it!
“But it didn't work, because she was only tiny!”
SUE and Noel have 22 children . . .
Sue then explained: “We took her up to the hospital and they were laughing and joking - saying, 'She'll be absolutely fine, but she might have a bit of a growth spurt!'
“That was so funny - but only looking back, not before we got her to the hospital!”
As well as this, Noel also revealed an occasion where Sophie got hold of a glass of Sue’s wine, as he added: “Another time, Sue had this glass of wine that had been by her - but then it disappeared.
“The next thing we know, Sophie is running around and bouncing off the chairs and running into walls and things!”
Sue added: “I'd left it on the side - she must have been three or four at the time, and was able to get her hands on it when I wasn't looking.

“There was only a little bit in it, but she drank it and it obviously had an effect. It was hilarious.”
To which Noel then chimed in: “We called the hospital and asked them what we should do - they said, 'Don't worry about it, she'll sleep it off.'
“So yes, Sophie was a very inquisitive and curious child, which led to her getting into one or two scrapes.”
