The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers says we’ve been singing Mr Brightside wrong all these years – but is he just pulling our leg?
THE Killers' classic Mr Brightside is one of those timeless hits that always gets people up grooving - whether it's at a wedding, a cheesy nightclub or at home in your bedroom.
The lyrics are pretty much emblazoned on the brains of anyone who painted the town red in the noughties, but apparently you may have always been wrong.

What is Mr Brightside?
Mr Brightside was the Las Vegas rockers' first single, and it skyrocketed them to fame as it reached the top 10 in both the UK and America.
It's so popular that since it was released in 2003, it has never not spent a year in the Top 100 in the UK charts.
It has been streamed millions of times, and still has the highest popularity rating that iTunes can offer.
But frontman Brandon Flowers dropped a bombshell last year, which still has fans scratching their head.
What are the lyrics?
"Coming out of my cage and I've been doing just fine. Gotta, gotta be down, because I want it all..."
Those iconic lyrics, which an entire army of clubbers often come together to scream at the top of their lungs, perhaps aren't what we thought they were.
In the mind of the lead singer, they are very different.
Writing on their Facebook page, the band made the announcement, alongside a drawing of Flowers emerging from the bloodied torso of legendary actor Nicholas Cage.
The image is captioned: "Coming outta Nic Cage and I've been doing just fine."
The post went viral, notching up more than 56,000 likes and sparking a mass debate on other 'alternative' lyrics for the song.
It may be worth singing the traditional version when you're in a club though, just to be on the safe side.
