Relationship and sex expert Kate Taylor says there's no better time to spice things up in the bedroom as we start gearing up for spring.

She says: "Spring is the best time of year to revitalise your sex life.

"Starting the season with a bang will help you ensure the next six months are fun, flirty and fulfilling."

From sexy self-discovery to shaking up your routine, here she reveals the simple tips that will help to truly put a spring back in your step.

Raunchy box sets

You can’t teach a partner how to please you until you truly know what turns you on.

So one weekend cancel all plans, stock up on new toys and inspiration - from erotic books to raunchy box sets - and embark on a journey of sexy self-discovery.

Silky moves

Visual stimulation is vital for men and women, so make sure your bedding and underwear are easy on the eye.

Change your washed-out sheets and undies for new ones in rich, jewel colours and silky, sensuous fabrics.

Add some shaggy rugs, candles and music to arouse your other senses too.

While you’re there, throw out any toys or lube that have seen better days (or nights.)

Why 3pm is the golden hour

Having sex at a different time of day can make your standard moves feel fresh and exciting.

Try fitting in a quickie before work, or dashing home for a lunchtime feel-deal.

Working from home? Clear your calendar at 3pm, the time when men and women are both said to be at their friskiest.

Snog for hours

Long-term lovemaking can get predictable.

If you feel stuck in a rut, take the action right back to the beginning.

Go out on dates again, even if it’s just a stroll round the park or for a coffee.

Ramp up the flirting, sending longer, sexier messages. Snog for hours, and fire up the foreplay.

Feel friskier by banning... sex!

Ban sex for a week but focus on touching each other in all other ways – hugging, holding hands, snuggling in bed.

It’s sexier than it sounds – non-sexual touches become erotically charged when you know they're not “allowed” to end in sex.

They also boost your oxytocin – the bonding hormone that increases feelings of affection in couples.

Which generation is having the most sex?

A new report has lifted the lid on bedroom antics.

The research, conducted by experts at Kinsey Institute at Indiana University, revealed the average number of times people of different generations have sex per month.

  • Gen Z - three times a month
  • Millennials - five times a month
  • Gen X - five times a month
  • Boomers - three times a month

Get sweaty

Exercise outside together.

Just 10 minutes of sun exposure is enough to boost your body’s levels of testosterone - a natural aphrodisiac in men and women - and it’ll help you feel more confident naked too.

Go for walks together after dinner, or stroll hand-in-hand round your nearest park…before dragging each other into the bushes.

An easy way to boost your sexual confidence and spice things up is to create an erotic alter-ego.

Choose a sexy character - like a celebrity, or a fictional character from a TV show or film - and, when you’re in bed or sexting your partner, pretend to be that person.

How would they make the first move? What underwear would they wear, or not wear? What positions would they enjoy? What would they say?

Kinky games

Adding fun and games to your sex life will make everything feel newer.

Turn sex into a challenge: like, if they can get you undressed in under a minute, they can ravish you.

Or describe three sexy fantasies and get them to guess which one you’re secretly craving.

Or create a shared Note on your phone where you can leave sexy hints to what’s happening later...
