The pressure to deliver an impressive event can sometimes leave you wishing you could just hire a professional party planner, but their services don’t come cheap.

That’s why it’s always helpful to discover clever hacks that professionals use to elevate their parties – and it’s even better when those tricks are cost-effective.

One such hack comes courtesy of Marissa, known as ‘’ on TikTok, who recently shared a simple yet ingenious tip for creating party decorations that look like they were arranged by a pro.

In her viral video, Marissa demonstrated how to use just four strips of tape – which currently cost (covering 15 yards) – to create a stunning balloon display.

At under 10p per strip of tape, it’s an affordable solution for anyone looking to add a touch of flair to their celebration.

Explaining that she picked up this trick from a professional party planner, Marissa began by cutting a strip of tape and attaching a hairband to the wall.

She then used additional strips of tape to create a square by securing the other side of the hairband to the wall.

Once the square was in place, she grabbed a bunch of pre-tied balloons and slid them through the hairband.

This clever technique allows the balloons to stay securely attached to the wall, eliminating any worry about them falling down mid-party.

Marissa revealed that this is a balloon hack she wishes she’d known about sooner.

Her video, shared on 24 April this year, quickly gained traction and has since gone viral, amassing an impressive 7.3 million views and 1,198 comments.

Fans of the hack were quick to share their excitement. One viewer commented: “Now baby, that’s a hack.”

Another added: “Throwing myself a party just so I can do this.”

Meanwhile, a third said: “LOL the contraptions I’ve come up with to keep my balloons up only for them to inevitably fall… Thank you!”

Dinner party and guest etiquette

Whether it's your first time hosting friends at your new house, or you're a regular dinner party invitee...

Fabulous' Associate Editor, Rebecca Miller, has put together a list of do's and don'ts when it comes to dinner parties and guest etiquette - and it doesn't include sending a guest a bill at the end of the night!

Do show up on time - a 10-minute grace period is allowed, but anything longer without letting the host know, is just plain rude.

Don't show up empty handed - unless you're popping round for a quick coffee, you should always show up with a small token of your appreciation for the host and their efforts. Flowers, a bottle of wine, candle, or contribute to the dinner by making dessert.

Don’t start eating until everyone is seated - what might be an obvious rule, it's one many forget. Cooking a meal for a group of people takes a lot of effort, so wait for the host to park themselves, thank them, and await instruction.

Don't do the dishes, do clear the table - everyone has their way of cleaning and tidying up. If you swan into the kitchen and start scrubbing, it could be seen as an insult. So help clear the table, and ask if there's anything else you can do - perhaps top up everyone's glass?

Get off your phone - few things can make a person feel less seen or important than coming second to a mobile. Leave it in your pocket, and check anything urgent during toilet breaks.
