THIS Morning viewers were left shocked today after a heated debate about skin lightening caused one guest to rip off her wig.
Former model and beauty queen Irene Major, who is an advocate for skin lightening treatments, argued with TV presenter AJ Odudu on the beauty standards topic.
Recent comments from Beyoncé Knowles' father, who seemed to equate the success of her and other stars like Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj with the lightness of their skin, promoted a fiery debate on This Morning.
AJ, 29, argued that black women should be happy in the skin that they’re in, while Irene said she had been using skin lightening products for years and loved them.
The debate came to a heated climax when Irene, 38, challenged AJ on not wearing her natural hair.
"You are from Nigeria?" she asked. "Then you should be here in your traditional clothes, and take your freaking wig off, that is where we have to go."
Irene, who also found fame on Channel 5's Billionaire Babies, then pulled off her own blonde wig - revealing her short natural hair - before challenging AJ to do the same.
When she refused, mum-of-six Irene insisted: "This is the wrong person to come here and talk to me about it.”
She then gestured to her opponent, saying: “Little Miss Perfect here can pretend to be so good,” before host Philip Schofield was forced to step in.
Philip called Irene “terribly defensive”, before adding: "We would like a good, non-insulting debate."
Philip wasn't the only one surprised by the turn in events - as viewers were left glued to their screens.
Many applauded Irene's reaction while others were simply shocked - and one viewer was quick to note that both women were naturally beautiful regardless of skin colour.
But it's not the only drama to take place on This Morning this week - as Holly was left to present alone when a giddy Philip fled the set.
And viewers were also in a tizzy over Holly's killer pins that she flaunted in a pale blue mini-skirt.
