Survival of the Fittest fans outraged as this popular Love Island tradition is ditched

ITV2’s SURVIVAL of the Fittest has been hailed as the “winter Love Island” but there is one similarity that is causing outrage among die-hard fans.
The show launched on Sunday night and saw information relayed to the glamorous South African camp members via technology, mirroring what happens in the Love Island villa.
However some viewers have been taking issue that the wording of the famous “I’ve got a text” catchphrase has been subtly changed.
Contestants on Survival of the Fittest yell out “I’ve got a message” instead, and it appears people aren’t comfortable with change.
If this wasn’t shocking enough for some fans, the show’s stars don’t receive texts on their phones but on their smart watches.
The two changes have prompted fans to take to social media to share their dismay.
One wrote: “Sorry but 'I’ve got a message' is not really doing it for me I want to here 'IVE GOT A TEXT'”.
Another said: “This programme is SUCH a copy of Love island even shouting ‘I’ve got a message’ instead of text via their watches instead of phones ITS NOT THE SAME.”
Meanwhile one posted: "'Guys I've got a message' NOOOO STOP COPYING LOVE ISLAND! NO. JUST NO.”
More on Survival of the Fittest
Survival Of The Fittest started on Sunday, February 11 at 9pm on ITV2 with a special hour-and-a-half launch show.
Survival Of The Fittest sees a group of hot, young singles sent to the South African Savannah to take part in the ultimate battle of the sexes, involving mental and physical challenges.
But the strength of the ladies and gents is not the only thing being tested.
Throughout the series the contestants will have the opportunity to romance the opposite sex - but only at the expense of their team's chances in the competition.
We previously revealed the show's new slang word… and, no, it’s not as rude as it sounds.
