A POLYAMOROUS couple who are living as "vampires" have opened up about their peculiar lifestyle in this week's episode of Extreme Love.
Logan South and his wife Daley shared chilling details about what they get up to in their spare time, including drinking the blood of their "donor" girlfriend.
Logan, 32 and Daley, 31 explained they had their "vampiric awakening" when they were teenagers and are now the "king and queen" of the Vampire Court of Austin in Texas.
In true vampire form, they wear fangs, avoid the light and drink the blood of their "donor" girlfriend, Ilona.
"Daley and I usually feed from Ilona about once or twice a month," Logan explained.
Daley added: "It's a good idea to know your donor, we have them tested every six months for blood-borne illnesses."
And while Daley revealed drinking blood is "not sexual" for her, for Logan, it's a lot different.
"It's not a sexual aspect for me I'm not turned on while I'm drinking blood it's just something that, you know, hey, it's been a month, I probably need a feed, I'm feeling a little down, do you mind?" Daley explained.
"[Logan] has always been very drawn to the aspect of intimacy and the primal urge."
"There is a very sexual nature to it because it is someone taking you in," Ilona added.
Despite wearing fangs, Logan and Daley don't "bite" Ilona, but instead use the same tool diabetics use to prick her skin before passionately sucking on her fingers.
Although married, the pair have always had an open relationship.
Daley - who has had her ears surgically altered to achieve the vampire look - explained: "He was very up front with me when we first met and he said, hey, this is what I've always been, this is what I do, I'm open I'm poly and that's just who I am, I can't change that.
"I said, OK well I've never really tried it, but I like you a lot so let's give it a go."
The pair are part of private members club, the Vampire Court of Austin, which offers "a safe haven and family environment for all of Austin's vampire community".
They believe if vampires are not permitted to "feed" or if they spend too long in the sun, they are more susceptible to illness.
For this reason, Logan and Daley are nocturnal and sleep during the daylight hours.
"A vampire is someone that, for one reason or another, needs to take in human energy in the form of blood or psychic energy or sexual energy to keep themselves healthy," Daley explained.
Speaking about her first experience drinking blood, Daley recalled feeling "intense thirst" in an English class at school.
"I ran to the first water fountain I could find and I started gulping down water," she explained.
"I didn't feel any less thirsty. At that point, I happened to run into one of my friends in the hallway that had been helping me through my awakening.
"We found my friend and they pulled out a lancet and I drank from them and it was immediately gone."
