Oscars 2019: Glenn Close drags stunning dress weighing THREE STONE as she vies for Best Actress at the Academy Awards

THEY say that beauty is pain – and no one knows this more than Glenn Close at this year’s Oscars.
The Academy Awards nominee, 71, has revealed that her stunning golden Carolina Herrera dress – which featured a stunning trailing cape – weighed a staggering three stone.
“From the way the actress carried herself on the red carpet, you’d never have guessed that dragging the spectacular gown was the equivalent of lugging 42lbs behind her,” celebrity fashion stylist, Omenaa Boakye, tells The Sun.
“She certainly walked the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in LA in style.”
Glenn joked to E! red carpet host Ryan Seacrest about the whopping weight of the dress, and previously admitted she is “intimidated” by the outfit.
asked the star if she had been lifting weights in order to prepare for wearing the dress to the star-studded event.
She said: “No, and it's probably going to kill me."
Glenn was nominated for Best Actress for her role in The Wife, leaving many convinced that this might be the year Glenn takes home an Oscar.
She has already been nominated for the award six times, for The World According to Garp, The Big Chill, The Natural, Fatal Attraction, Dangerous Liaisons and Albert Nobbs.
The talented actress already has three Tony Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, three Emmy Awards, and one Screen Actors Guild Award to date.
Olivia Colman's period comedy-drama The Favourite and Netflix's black-and-white epic Roma lead this year's Oscar race, with 10 nominations each.
The other contenders include A Star Is Born and Vice with eight each, followed by Black Panther with seven.
