WE'RE used to celebrity public displays of affection - from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's sweet hand-holding, to Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquz's adorable pecks.
But when Kate Beckinsale and Pete Davidson started exchanging saliva at a hockey match in New York over the weekend we got a tad squeamish.
The English actress, 45, and the Saturday Night Live comedian, 25, shared a passionate smooch - tongues and all - in an apparent confirmation of their relationship.
Body language expert Judi James says Ariana Grande's ex's "kiss makes him look like a teenager road-testing his snog techniques for the first time".
Speaking to Fabulous Online, she explains: "He’s leaning in towards Kate but with his left had kind of pawing her rather than getting a steadying grip.
"With his eyes and his mouth open and that tongue reaching across lizard-like to poke into her mouth from a distance his technique suggests a high sex drive but also possibly an erratic and spontaneous approach in the bedroom."
James adds that the mum-of-one "looks way too sophisticated for what might feel like adolescent body language, meaning although the fun and the passion might be working between them they could ultimately find themselves looking for a more complimentary fit when it comes to long-term relationships."
However, the pair aren't the only ones to kiss up a storm for all the wrong reasons - these are the other stars who have left us cringing with their awkward snogging...
Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik
Analysing the couple's kiss from April last year, James says: "The effort Zayn is putting into this kiss is clearly not reciprocated by Gigi, who looks like a woman with other things on her mind.
"This leaves Zayn’s kiss looking attention-seeking and rather needy as he leans into her against the wall and bends his neck so his head comes up to plant the smacker on her mouth. Gigi has still got her glasses on, suggesting this kiss really was impromptu and – for Gigi – barely worth stopping for.
"Zayn seems to be a romantic and besotted lover who would put a lot of work into getting the sex just right while Gigi looks less impressed by technique and more about time management here."
So it's perhaps unsurprising that the model and singer split for the second time in January of this year.
Tristan Thompson and Khloe Kardashian
The pair's relationship has been the talk of the town over the past fortnight when they split after it was claimed that the basketball player had cheated on the reality TV star with Kylie Jenner's best friend Jordyn Woods.
Last April, while she was pregnant with their daughter True, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians favourite shared this picture of the couple kissing to Instagram.
"With Tristan sitting rather static on the sink, kissing gingerly with his lips closed and pursed while she presses herself adoringly between his legs, controlling his head for the kiss by placing it between her splayed hands, this kiss signals very mixed signals from Khloe, blending adoration and submission with control and choreography," explains James.
"Her abandonment to the kiss and the way he is placed on a higher level suggest she’s keen to flatter him and boost his ego, which could be a technique she uses (or used to use!) in the bedroom."
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen
They are one of the most popular celebrity couples around, and it seems that the singer and model were very much in love already in 2014 - after just a year of marriage and with no kids as of yet.
"This up-close-with-eyes-open kiss means that, instead of closing their eyes to experience every moment of passion the couple are keen to read one another and check for things like trust, honesty and love while their heads are together and their lips are locked," says James.
"This could suggest the couple are still in the getting-to-know one another stage of their relationship despite being together for several years, and this checking and using eye contact rather than assuming and ignoring with time could be what is making their relationship work long-term.
"The lack of taking one another for granted could extend to their sex life, meaning they could work to make it as fresh as it was when they first got together."
In December, Chrissy called her husband the "best lover" as she celebrated his 40th birthday.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes
Perhaps an early sign their marriage was going to turn sour, TomKat performed an awkward kiss for the cameras at an event in Los Angeles in 2005.
"Forget ‘kiss like no-one’s watching’, Tom looks like a guy who is kissing like he knows the whole world is watching here and probably waiting impatiently for an autograph or a selfie," says James.
"Katie scrunches up lovingly to plant a passionate-looking kiss on Tom’s lips and her closed eyes suggest she’s keen to be lost in the moment.
"Tom looks anything but lost here though and what looks awfully like embarrassment at the PDA has made him grin so wide Katie’s kiss appears to have landed on his teeth rather than his lips.
"This lop-sided kiss suggests a lop-sided approach to sex, with one partner lighting candles and throwing rose petals into the bubble bath while the other is checking the evening’s TV listings and ordering a take-away for the mates he invited round."
The couple - who share a 12-year-old daughter called Suri - split in 2012.
Offset and Cardi B
The couple touched tongues in a bizarre loved-up display at the Grammy Awards last month.
It followed their split in December after a year of marriage and following claims he had cheated on her.
"This double-lizard-tongues kiss looks very stylised and more of a ritual than an actual full-on snog," says James.
"The tongue-twister keeps bodies and faces at the furthest distance while still producing a rather weird but sensual-looking kiss.
"It looks naughty enough to be about delayed gratification in the bedroom, where a couple spend time using subtle touches and techniques to delay and enhance the experience rather than just jumping on one another half way up the stairs."
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian
They are happily married and , but this red carpet appearance in 2015 gave off interesting signals from Kimye.
"There is a lot about this kiss that signals ‘yes, we’re having sex’ although the way Kanye has his hand on his wife’s bum here looks more like a boasting gesture about their sex life than a genuine sensual grope," notes James.
"Kanye is very into this kiss bestowed kiss, leaning forward with his eyes closed, but Kim is smiling more than locking lips here, holding her husband’s arm to suggest she’s putting the brake on the PDA any minute, although her smile suggests she’s happy with his ritual of adoration in front of the cameras."
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan
Following their shock split in April last year, both film stars have since moved on - him with singer Jessie J and her with actor Steve Kazee.
But at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in 2013, they were four years into their marriage, expecting their first child, and giving off passionate vibes.
"The way he is bending his knees to carefully and thoughtfully plant his lips onto Jenna’s here while his hands hold her carefully as though she’s made of the finest china suggests Channing is a caring, thoughtful and considerate lover in the bedroom," says James.
"He’s putting maximum effort into making this moment special for Jenna while she stands looking thoughtful and low-key in terms of emotions. Channing looks like an old-fashioned romantic here, using careful gestures called ‘gentleman’s hands’.
"This kiss suggests he could be passionate but also unselfish in the bedroom, a guy who could put Jenna’s enjoyment before his own."
