Forget about your usual tonic, this is about to make the gin cocktail much more interesting

ANYONE who likes a tipple will be pretty excited to hear that tomorrow is WORLD GIN DAY.

Yes, if there was ever a reason to crack open a bottle, this has to be it.

Can’t you just imagine yourself kicking back under the sun (hopefully…) with a delicious gin in your hand on June 11? It sounds like pretty much the perfect Saturday to us.

Don’t stick to your usual splash of tonic though, because with just a little extra effort you can get something much more exciting in your glass.

Here are a couple of recipes from to get the gin juices flowing.

Karma’s a b*tch

This uses apricot to give your gin a little extra kick.

Ingredients

Karma tea sugar syrup (mix the tea with a blend of sugar syrup and how water)

Lime juice - 22.5ml

Apple Juice - 50ml

Tanqueray Gin – 30ml

Apricot Liqueur – 15ml

Method

  • Mix all the ingredients together in a shaker with some ice
  • Pour into a glass via a mini sieve or tea strainer
  • Garnish with a piece of orange zest

Goodnight Mr Tom

This time the gin is blended with refreshing apple and elderflower.

Ingredients

Portion of Mint

Goodnight Tea sugar syrup – (mix the tea with water and caster sugar)

Lemon sour mix - 7.5ml

Apple Juice - 50ml

Old Tom Gin – 30ml

Elderflower – 15ml

Mint sprig and orange zest

Method

  • Place all the ingredients in a shaker
  • Once thoroughly mixed, strain into a glass
  • Decorate with the mint and orange
