The nasty biting insects thrive in warm, moist conditions and will no doubt be out in force following the heavy rainfall of the past few days.
Although mozzies in the UK don't transmit diseases like they do in other countries, if you’ve ever experienced one of their bites you’ll know how irritating and often painful they can be.

All you need are some mason jars (an old jam jar will do the trick), a tealight candle, a lime, a lemon, some sprigs of fresh rosemary, some lavender oil and a dash of water.
This video, posted to YouTube by MakersKit Lab, explains the method to making the mosquito deterrent.
First you take the lemon and lime and cut them into wedges.
Next, fill the mason jar with water and add the fruit slices, rosemary and a few drops of the lavender oil.
Finally, add your candle, light it up, and you're done!
While the combination smells fresh and aromatic to us humans, bugs hate it and will steer clear.
