Here’s why Calvin Klein’s ‘first plus-sized model’ is still making everyone angry

The underwear giant has been slammed after claims it featured its first "plus size" model who is a slim size 10

CALVIN KLEIN has been blasted on social media after claims it featured its first "plus size" model - who is a slim size 10.

A picture of 29-year-old model Myla Dalbesio, from Wisconsin, US, posing for Calvin Klein, shot two years ago, has surfaced the internet again, sparking another fierce debate about the fashion industry's body image.

It all started when Corrie actress Catherine Tyldesley, who is best known for playing Eva Price on the ITV soap, shared the image of the model with the slogan "Calvin Klein's first plus size model".

The star tweeted: "Tell me this is a joke??PLUS size?!?! Congrats on giving another generation of girls eating disorders/insecurities."

Her post triggered outrage on the social media with many people attacking the fashion brand for promoting unrealistic body ideals.

One commented: "If this is 'plus size' I don't want to know what Calvin Klein would categorise me under."

"Are the Calvin Klein plus size models some kind of sick joke?" another tweeted.

While another added: "What Calvin Klein is calling 'plus size' is literally my body goals..."

In an interview with  in 2014, Myla said although she was larger than previous models used in previous Calvin Klein campaigns, she considers herself "in-between" rather than plus sized.

She said: "I'm in the middle. I'm not skinny enough to be with the skinny girls and I'm not large enough to be with the large girls and I haven't been able to find my place. This [campaign] was such a great feeling."

Since the campaign, Myla is now a size 8 and still rejects the "plus-size" label.

She is represented by Next Model Management, Ford Models and Fancina she is now a size 8 and rejects the "plus-size" label.
