A DISGRUNTLED woman who aired her "upset" online after her sister failed to tell her she had given birth has received little sympathy from Mumsnet users.

The new aunt, who is known only by her internet username 'Peach16', shared her angst on the popular parenting forum on 7 July 2016.

She said she was hurt to discover she had a nephew via a Facebook announcement posted by one of her brother-in-law’s colleagues.

However, Mumsnet contributors slammed her sensitivity saying “it’s really no big deal” and “it really isn’t about you”.

: “Hi all, we have just found out my sister and BIL (brother-in-law) have had their baby, they told both sets of parents but not siblings.

"Baby had only been born an hour and one of BILs colleagues has posted a message congratulating them, we’ve seen the Facebook post before we got the message from my mum telling us the baby had been born.

"AIBU (am I being unreasonable) for being upset?”

The length message continued: “I haven’t told my sister I’ve seen the post as don’t want to spoil their special moment but I’m still hurt that this has happened.

"I know it’s the colleagues fault for announcing but am annoyed with BIL for telling a colleague before making sure all family know! WWYD (what would you do)? X”

The message has so far received 88 responses, many telling the woman she is overreacting.

A user called 'Whatthefreakinwhatnow' commented: “I imagine they are quite busy now with their newborn, so let the parents know and a post on Facebook takes care of everyone else in one hit. I don’t see the problem.”

After saying telling siblings isn’t a “priority”, the woman added: “I really wouldn’t say anything; it really isn’t about you.”

Another user called 'NeedACleverNN' said she could “see why you might be a bit upset” but Facebook “is easier than calling everyone”.

Meanwhile, a woman called 'ElsaAintAsColdAsMe' wrote: “I would go for newborn snuggles with my nephew and forget all about it. It’s really no big deal at all.”

Other users told the new aunt to focus on her “lovely niece or nephew” and not get obsessed with “wanting to be told before someone else”.

'Peach16' seemed to get over her wobble and later wrote: “Oh well, it’s done now, I’m excited I’m now an aunt for the first time and we are going to meet him tomorrow!”
