Savvy shoppers count savings after cottoning onto 'double deal' mistake by high street giant
SAVVY shoppers have been counting their spare cash after saving a pretty penny on a meal deal glitch at Tesco.
The supermarket launched a bargain deal this week allowing customers to pick up a large Pizza Express oven pizza and a dessert for just £5.
But people quickly realised they could use the high street giant’s Brand Match guarantee at the checkout to drive the cost down even further.
Shoppers at were the first to pick up on the trick which allows people to bag the lot for just £1.
Cheaper prices on individual items at other supermarkets cause the price to be automatically slashed.
Commenters on the money saving forum explained what you have to do to take maximum advantage of the deal.
Shoppers have to buy one large Pizza Express pizza, one box of Gü luxury desserts and 8 other unique items.
This is because Tesco's Brand Guarantee only applies to purchases of 10 different items or more.

One member explained: “The pizzas are £6 in Tesco, £3 in Morrisons.
“The Gü is £3 in Tesco, £2 in Morrisons.”
But in order to guarantee maximum savings customers have to get themselves to a Tesco store.
Prices for online shoppers are compared on the day of delivery rather than the day you place your order.
This means a change of pricing at Morrisons could scupper the deal.
And the Brand Match guarantee only applies to major outlets – meaning Tesco Express stores are exempt.
Tesco’s brand policy states that if an item is cheaper at Asda, Morrisons or Sainsbury's, they'll take the money off your bill at the checkout when you buy 10 or more different products.
The deal allows for savings to a maximum value of £20.
