These are the 10 British Olympians you need to watch out for at the Rio Games

Katarina Johnson-Thompson

THE Rio Olympics kick off tomorrow, which means soon your TV will be crammed with the best athletes in the world all battling for gold.

Expect to see Mo Farah pounding the track in the men's 10,000m and 5,000m events, Jessica Ennis-Hill bossing the women's heptathlon again and Chris Froome hopefully cycling to glory straight off the back of his Tour de France win.

Whether you like watching the swimming, cycling or your more of a track fan, you'll definitely want to watch out for some of these other Great British hopefuls.

Bianca won the gold medal at the 2015 World Taekwondo Championships in 2015.

That made her just the second Brit to nab the title and has surely boosted her chances of triumphing at the Games.

Adam Peaty - Swimming

We've proven time and again that we're a nation to be reckoned with in the pool, and this time our hopes are with Adam.

Keep an eye on him in the 100m breaststroke group - he won gold in that category at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Nicola Adams - Boxing

You'll probably know her name thanks to London 2012, and it's safe to say she's going into Rio in a pretty good position.

At the moment flyweight Nicola is the reigning world, Commonwealth, European Games and Olympic champion.

We've reported on the triplets who are going for gold at the Rio 2016 Olympic marathon, but there are brothers there too.

Alaistair took gold at London 2012 and his brother scooped the bronze after he was penalised, so it'll be interesting to see how things go this time around.

Lizzie Armitstead - Cycling

Again, this has to be one of the categories the nation is best known for.

Lizzie is competing in the road race and she took home silver at London 2012.

She's won numerous other titles since then, so odds are she'll do well in Rio.

Charlotte Dujardin - Equestrian Dressage

Charlotte scooped not one but two golds at the last Olympics, in the individual and team events.

She's heading to Rio with her horse Valegro and is certainly hoping things go her way, as it's the last time the animal is at an Olympics.

Of course we have Jessica Ennis-Hill to watch for when it comes to the heptathlon, but Katarina is snapping at her heels.

She came second behind Jessica at the 2015 World Championships, proving she's come a long way since the last Olympics when she finished in 15th place.

Greg Rutherford - Men's Long Jump

You'll know the name from London 2012, when Greg took home gold.

He also triumphed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and European Championships, and the 2015 World Championships.

Kat Driscoll - Gymnastics

Kat missed out on the final at the 2012 Olympics, but she dusted herself off and kept going.

She won silver at last year's European Games and will be hoping to add to that in the coming weeks.
