Rio Olympics 2016: Social media reacts hilariously to photo of Michael Phelps giving a death glare to rival

MICHAEL Phelps may not have collected any medals Monday night in Rio, but he did deliver what will be one of the most memorable images of the 2016 Olympic Games.
Prior to a semi-final race in the 200m butterfly, Phelps was caught by cameras eyeballing South African rival Chad Le Clos, who beat Phelps to win the gold in the event in London.
Chad, who had been sitting next to the American, stood in front of him and began shadow boxing, which appeared to disturb his rival’s mental preparation.
Michael, who is the most decorated Olympian of all time, was not impressed, and social media erupted with hilarious memes mocking the athlete.
The Facebook page Olympic Memes uploaded the hilarious snap with the caption: "When you're the real slim shady but someone else stands up".
While one Twitter user creatively Photoshopped the face of Darth Maul on the angry looking athlete.
Another user edited the picture to make it look as though Michael Phelps was setting Chad's hair on fire with his laser beam eyes.
Someone else joked: "When ur crush's significant other is at the party".
One Twitter user wrote the lyrics Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up, presumably predicting that's what the Olympian was listening to.
Another funny user commented: "When someone tells you they just ran out of dry towels. #RioOlympics @MichaelPhelps #gameface"
One Harry Potter fan said: "Tfw u wanted gryffindor but were sorted into hufflepuff".
And a Pokemon player joked: "When you're almost about to catch a rare Pokemon and your battery d---"

Yesterday, a pool attendant stole the limelight away from athletes competing in the Olympic pool as he was snapped looking mind-numblingly bored.
The pool attendant, clad head-to-toe in the famous yellow and red was pictured head in hands, watching on with a look in his eye that just screamed: “What am I doing here?”
And naturally, as is often the way these days, the pic was spotted by keen Twitter users, who eagerly chimed in with their own jokes.
One user quipped: “Worlds [sic] most useless job – lifeguard at Rio Olympics 2016.”
While another user joked: “When you realize [sic] they’re the best swimmers in the world, so you prolly not saving any lives tonight…”
