A SLICE of bacon with a NIPPLE attached has sent the internet into a frenzy.
The picture of the meat, with a pig’s nipple still left on, was shared by Reddit user Misssmeg, in a post that has now gone viral. Misssmeg posted the unnerving snap alongside the simple caption: “This bacon still has the nipple on it”.
More than a few Redditors simply replied: “And I'm done with bacon.”
Within just a few hours more than 3,000 people had reacted to the disturbing image and most were pretty disgusted.
Some users even had their own meat-related horror stories.
User mowrawn said: “A while back I tried tacos with beef tongue.
“It was good until I noticed the taste buds could still be seen.”
NotSoSlenderMan said: “I almost became a vegetarian because the ham at Thanksgiving dinner had a vein in it.
“I was kind of eating around it when my disgusting aunt eating like a disgusting person was gnawing on a piece like a wild animal and exclaimed, ‘Oh look at this beautiful vein on this ham!’”
Meanwhile, bacon-nips seemed to become a strange phenomenon on the image sharing website Imgur.
Users were quick to link to an array of pork with unexpected nipples attached.
Captions included: “Today, I found a nipple on my bacon.
“I've already converted over to Judaism. Shalom, y'all.”
The nipples have left many wondering if the pig on the original post was male or female, with user MissAnneStanton asking: “Is this a male or female nipple I don't know if this bacon is NSFW”.
One Redditor, claiming to have been a free range pork producer for two years, said any bacon with nipples left on would likely be from a castrated male - as female pigs are usually reserved for breeding.
But theBoxy_Butcher added: “Though the females can be used as ground after their mothering years are complete.”
The images also sparked a debate as to whether or not the nipples are edible.
Liontta wrote: “When I worked in a high end retail, the butchers used to intentionally give the nipple bacon out to rude/abusive customers. Usually as a free sample. I personally found it pretty hilarious.
“For anybody who might get upset about this, let me state for the record that it is not dangerous to eat the nipple, it's entirely edible.
