CONSPIRACY theorists are claiming that the 1984 Olympic Games were used to prepare the world for an alien invasion - which is due later this year.
The bizarre closing ceremony at the Los Angeles Games raised eyebrows at the time, but alien enthusiasts still claim that the Olympic event had a more sinister purpose, 32 years after it happened.
Things started off normal enough, with a medal procession and a performance by Lionel Ritchie winning over fans in the packed Memorial Colloseum.
But, midway through the vibrant ceremony, the entire arena went pitch black and an unexpected visitor made a memorable appearance.
Eerie music set the tone as a huge alien mothership hovered into view and lasers shot around the stadium.
Just when things couldn't get any more surreal, an alien being appeared, clad in a white space suit and featuring six elongated fingers on each hand.

According to these extraterrestrial enthusiasts, the real alien invasion is coming this year, although they have been making similar claims in almost every year since the Los Angeles Games.
Late conspiracy theorist Bill Cooper even went so far as to suggest that the UFO which interrupted the closing ceremony could have been real.
He said: "There was no helicopter up there holding this thing.
"They’ll tell you that, but it’s not true. Can you imagine the liability they would have if they were carrying this thing suspended on a cable underneath the helicopter over the heads of hundreds of thousands of people?
“It was under its own power.”
