Twitter user Sophie Ramos echoed everyone's thoughts, with the simple tweet: "long weekend extension please", alongside a broken heart and crying face emoji.

Others were quick to point out that the end of this weekend marks the end of summer, writing: "Sleep deprived just by thinking about going back to work. Oh holidays how I'm going to miss you".

Some tried to be upbeat about the end of summer, adding that they were ready to "rock'n'roll (or something like that.)"

Twitter user Kristy C echoed how all of us who've over indulged feel, tweeting about the way too familiar feeling of "yoga pants that were way to big in July" being snug now.

Even the BBC got in on the #backtowork trend, posting a hilarious meme of Hyacinth Bucket tolling her eyes, alongside the caption: "Absolutely rocking the #backtowork face for at least another two hours".

Some were even hashtagging "#bankholidayblues" to really get their point across - and the tweets were far too relatable.

Others were slightly more upbeat about being back at their desks - but to be fair they did have cake.

Charlotte Ashton wrote: "Celebrating going #backtowork with cake!" which she had for a colleagues birthday.

Cake definitely makes everything better...
