As X Factor’s Emily Middlemas and Ryan Lawrie are forced to move in together, we look back at other contestant romances from over the years

IT'S not unusual for single - and not so single - X Factor contestants to fall for one another, and this year has been no exception.
Today we reported how lovebirds Emily Middlemas and Ryan Lawrie are being forced to move in together after both reaching the live finals, despite having only been dating for seven months.
Their romance comes hot off the heels of other memorable show romances (or showmances, for the more cynical readers).
Here we take a look at eight X Factor love stories from the last 12 seasons.
Chloe Jasmine and Stevi Ritchie (2014)
These two controversially hooked up despite Chloe having a boyfriend back home (needless to say that didn't last long).
The pair went on to appear as a couple on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015 and have even got engaged - twice.
Though we reported how they split up last month after Chloe stood Stevi up on his birthday, despite plans to go out and celebrate.
Tamera Foster and Sam Callahan (2013)
Sadly for these two lovebirds, Sam was booted out in week one of the competition.
But their budding romance still went the distance - if only for a year, after which they split so Tamera could concentrate on her career after being signed to Simon Cowell's record label.
A source told The Sun: "It wasn't her intention to hurt him, but she knew it was time to move on. Sam is moving on with his career and is still very ambitious so it just wasn't going to work."
Wagner and Mary Byrne (2010)
Not only was Wagner an unexpected hit with the viewing public, he also turned out to be a bit of a ladies man.
During his time on the show he reportedly turned his attentions to Tesco worker Mary, with rumours the pair were all set to go on a date.
A source even claimed members of the production team had dubbed them "the new Renee and Renato" - but sadly their love affair was blighted by rumours Wagner got a bit friendly with his backing dancers and walked in on Mary changing.

Zayn Malik and Rebecca Ferguson (2010)
While Zayn later got together with Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, he enjoyed a fling with his fellow contestant Rebecca Ferguson.
Despite her being six years older than him with two kids, the couple claimed to be "really in love".
Sadly, it didn't last - with Zayn later delivering the cutting blow that their relationship had been "a wrong idea from the start" - ouch.
Matt Cardle and Katie Waissel (2010)
It seems 2010 was a popular year for contestants making connections, as rumours were rife eventual winner Matt was found canoodling in bed with Katie.
However, Matt fiercely denied anything had gone on between them, going so far as to accuse Katie of making it up as she was a "fame hungry t**t".
Frankie Cocozza and Amelia Lily (2011)
Before Frankie got himself chucked out of the competition for reportedly boasting about his cocaine use, he enjoyed a brief fling with fellow contestant Amelia, who was clearly to keen to become another name on his tattooed bum.
But one woman wasn't enough for Frankie, as he apparently snogged another lass on an X Factor night out, leaving Amelia heartbroken.
Still, who's laughing now?
Ella Henderson and George Shelley (2012)
These two were certainly one of the cutest X Factor couples - but it wasn't all plain sailing for the adorable pair.
No sooner had they started holding hands in public when Ella was rumoured to have moved on to George's Union J bandmate Josh Cuthbert.
Apparently Ella decided to jump ship while they were all on a trip to Disneyland - sending a heartbroken George crying into Rylan Clark's arms.
Diana Vickers and Eoghan Quigg (2009)
Ok, we stand corrected - these two were definitely the sweetest pair to find love, though (unsurprisingly) it wasn't a clean cut romance.
The teenagers' relationship was complicated by the fact Diana had a boyfriend at the time.
But that didn't stop them showing their affection for each other - the moment Eoghan rushed onto the stage to give her a hug after she'd been voted off the show will forever be imprinted on our hearts.
