Mum accused of being ‘sexist and pushy’ after she asks Mumsnet users how to put her son off ballet lessons
User Ironriver took to the site to ask advice on how she could encourage her son to play football, rugby or karate instead

A MUMSNET user has been branded 'sexist and disgusting' after she asked other how she could encourage her son to ditch learning ballet in favour of football.
Mum Ironriver took to the site to get advice on how she could discourage her little boy from taking ballet classes - but faced a huge backlash after others saw the thread.
that her son is an aspiring model and she doesn't think that his ballet lessons are going to "fit in".
But she wants to encourage him to take up an extra-curricular activity that "lots of the boys do", such as football, etc.
The Mumsnet user's post read: "How to put my son off wanting to do ballet? I'm showing him how cool football, rugby, karate, etc. is, but he's having none of it.
"He does modelling... I don't think ballet is going to fit in. Lots of the boys do football, etc., so I would like him to do that. Any ideas?"
The controversial question was unsurprisingly met with a number of frosty responses from other mums who slammed Ironriver.
One furious user commented: "Your poor child, having such a sexist mother."
While another said: "Let him do ballet and get the f*** over yourself"
One sarcastically commented: "Try watching billy elliot that was full of good ideas"
Someone else wrote: "Yes... Stop being so bloody sexist and let him do the thing he is interested in and actually WANTS to do!!
"It's 2016! Boys don't just play football. Just like not all girls do ballet."

Other users claimed that ballet would actually help his modelling career, saying:"Actually ballet would REALLY help a modelling career. In what way would football do that?
"Look at the girls doing modelling - most will have studied ballet."
And: "I think if he does modelling ballet could well help his career. But aside from that. Embrace the idea that he WANTS to do something, that he's keen."
