We ask hungry shoppers to compare treats from posh market with Aldi in blind taste-tests after Great British Bake Off’s Prue Leith backed budget store
Find out here which treats rose to the challenge and which finished at the soggy bottom

PRUE LEITH loves Aldi, but just how good is the bargain supermarket?
We revealed how the new Bake Off judge gets her steak from there for the taste and value.
But how do other treats from the budget German store measure up to high-end options?
We went to London foodie hotspot Borough Market to see if hungry shoppers there preferred its artisan goodies to bargain-basement Aldi alternatives.
In a series of blind taste-tests, ten shoppers compared the market’s posh nosh with Aldi’s options, before telling us which ones preferred.
Only afterwards did we reveal which one was which.
The total cost of the nine items from Borough Market, including a bottle of champagne, was £87.35.
The equivalent items from cost just £24.41.
